UDAN Yojana Flights @ Book Cheapest Fares in India: The Ministry of Civil Aviation (India), UDAN-RCS, UDAN is a regional airport development and “Regional Connectivity Scheme” (RCS) of Government of India, with the objective of “Let the common citizen of the country fly”
The idea was considered on 27th April 2017. Widely known as charter flights, the scheme was highly successful, affordable to even middle-class people comparable to Luxurious Bus fare and existing Fast Express trains.
After a span of seven years of the conception of its plan, finally, today (25th March 2018) flight services between Salem and Chennai under the Centre’s regional connectivity scheme ‘UDAN’ the first flight took off its run-a-way from Salem to Chennai.

This – the first service, operated by private carrier Trujet, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palaniswami and Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan flagged off the first service.
The flight, with a seating capacity of 72, will leave Salem at 11 AM and reach Chennai at 11.50 AM. From Chennai, it departs at 9.50 AM to reach Salem at 10.40 AM. The tickets are priced at Rs 1,499.
During the forthcoming decade, we will see more such flights. This is a highly popular model in almost many countries.
In his address, Palaniswami said today’s launch was the first in the state under the UDAN scheme and said it will benefit the neighboring Erode, Namakkal, Karur, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts and also aid in industrial development.
The government had reduced VAT and ATF under this scheme making it viable and affordable to passengers. In just a few months to come, all states in India are expected adapt this scheme.
Radhakrishnan also said, speaking on the occasion, to help infrastructure development, the Centre has allocated Rs 1.5 lakh crore for various road infrastructure projects in Tamil Nadu.
Aviation officials and financial analysts emphasized that such an innovative plan helps strengthen the business in India tremendously.
